Eco-Āyurveda Centre
The Eco-Ayurvedic Education, Research, Recreation and Tourism Centre (EAERRTC) is envisioned as a holistic campus that integrates Ayurvedic education, scientific research, wellness, ecological conservation, and nature-based tourism within a five-acre site adjoining the Yakadawala forest reserve in Wathupitiwala. Commissioned by the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurvedic Institute, the project reinforces the institution’s long-standing mission of preserving and advancing Sri Lanka’s Siddhayurveda tradition. The design creates a therapeutic, environmentally responsive setting where learning, healing, and recreation coexist in harmony with nature. Educational, research, and community outreach functions are complemented by wellness facilities, cultural exhibitions, conference spaces, and visitor amenities, establishing the centre as both an academic institution and a public destination. Guided by principles of ecological stewardship and traditional knowledge, the campus promotes sustainable living, experiential learning, and holistic well-being while fostering meaningful engagement between people, indigenous medicinal practices, and the surrounding natural landscape.
